The History of the LBD
The first Little Black Dress took place in South Bend a few years ago as a small gathering of Goodwill friends who enjoyed food, fashion and fun! Most importantly, the mission of Goodwill Industries was shared with all who attended the event. What began as a modest event has grown into a bi-annual gala with a spring event held in South Bend, Indiana and a fall show in Merrillville, Indiana.
The Heart of the LBD
At the heart of the Little Black Dress is our focus on honoring those individuals and companies who are a part of the Goodwill Mission of strengthening communities and empowering individuals and families through Education, Training and Job Placement.
And the shopping is great!
This year, nearly 20 models will grace the runway in a variety of amazing looks created by the team at The Style & Image Institute, under the direction of Lead Stylist, Kathy Friend. For months, the stylist team has been hard at work pulling together looks that represent the latest trends.
We are fortunate to welcome the following pros to help everyone on the stage look their most amazing best:
You’ll recognize some of the faces you will see on the catwalk including some local celebrities. Deb Miles from B100 will be back with us again this year. Deb has been a mainstay for this show, making her runway debut at the very first LBD show.
Bob Montgomery from WSBT TV will also join us again. Bob has become accustom to tapping into his inner Super Model and is always a crown favorite.
Cari Peugeot from WSBT will act as co-host; and although she’s not officially a model, she will be showing off some of GW’s finest ensembles!
Cindy Kilgore is new to the runway this year. After spending the last 31 years serving our community as a South Bend Police officer. it’s time for her to get in touch with her inner diva as a runway model. Cindy also serves as a member of the Goodwill Industries of Michiana Board of Directors.
