Goodwill in Action:

The Academy: Ashton’s Story

Ashton Scott is an Academy graduate in Automotive Training levels 1 and 2 and also earned her S/P2 (Automotive Safety) and Entry-level ASE Maintenance and Light Repair certifications. She has always been a car enthusiast, having spent time around racecars with her dad growing up. While attending the Excel Center, Ashton learned about the automotive training available at the Academy and found her perfect fit for a career opportunity.

Inspired by her lifelong love of cars and the opportunity to turn this into a livelihood, Ashton was named Valedictorian of both Level 1 and Level 2 Automotive courses. She credits Academy staff members Jennifer and Martin with providing the support she needed to overcome her initial nerves when she first started classes. They provided the encouragement she needed to reach her potential.

After graduation, Ashton landed an amazing Apprenticeship at Gurley Leep Kia starting August 5. The assistance she received through Goodwill is something that Ashton encourages everyone to investigate.

“The opportunities you can work toward are life changing. They helped me through a lot, and they could help anyone,” Ashton shared. “Goodwill helped me make a bright future for myself.
