When Emely enrolled at The Excel Center, she wasn’t sure what she wanted for her future. What she did know was that she wanted better job opportunities beyond the food service industry.
At The Excel Center, Emely found the support and structure she needed to move forward.
With guidance from dedicated teachers and life coaches, she built a flexible schedule around her part-time job. In the classroom, she was supported by teachers who genuinely cared about her well-being and success. Over time, Emely began to believe in herself. She realized she was stronger and more capable than she had thought.
As a result, Emely became the first in her immediate family to graduate high school. Reflecting on that moment, she shares, “The milestone that I am very proud of is when I finally graduated. I had just become the first in my immediate family to graduate high school. Seeing my mom’s reaction to me in my gown is something I’ll never forget. I’ve never seen her look so proud.” Her achievement broke a cycle and set a new standard for her family.
Today, Emely moves forward with a renewed sense of purpose and credits The Excel Center staff and teachers for helping her get there. Her journey has come full circle. She now works as a paraprofessional at the same school she attended, supporting students with IEPs and offering the same support that helped her succeed. She shows students what is possible when someone believes in their ability to succeed.
Emely’s story demonstrates the impact of The Excel Center’s unique model. With the right structure, encouragement, and flexibility, students who once felt stuck can move forward with confidence toward better jobs and more stable futures.
As Emely puts it, “If you genuinely care about your future, go to The Excel Center. There are people who will support you and truly want to see you succeed.”
